Resume and Background
I've had a passion for all things dealing with computers for a long time. My dad introduced me to computers when I was a small child. I sat watching as he entered grades into the gradebook program that he wrote for our Tandy Color Computer and was intrigued by the sounds the cassette tapes where data was saved made when played as an audio tape. Of course, computers were not solely for work. My interest certainly grew when playing Downland, a cave exploration game, or the helicopter game that my dad had keyed in from a magazine and saved to a disk. Come to think of it, that was probably my first exposure to open-source software.
Over the years my interests in technology have grown and changed from those days of 5 1/4" floppy disks and ROM cartridges when having 720K of storage and 128K of RAM was a big deal. From there, I went into my high school and college years of building gaming machines for LAN parties, playing Quake, Half-Life and Counter-Strike and seeing what I could do with about every programming language I could get my paws on. Now, my technology interests lie in running open-source operating systems for both fun and profit, managing my own servers and my career in building and maintaining networks for small to medium-sized businesses.
